Nissan Titan XD with the Cummins.

I really rather like these. It needs bigger tires though. I enjoy the soft clattering of the diesel followed by the turbo whistle.

How can you tell it has the Cummins?

Jokes aside, I really liked the Platinum Reserve checked out at the dealer. But the lighter Titan with the Endurance V8 has my heart. That exhaust note! Favorite Nissan engine of the last 25 years.

Yeah? I don’t think I’ve paid much attention to the gas motor. Family friends used to have one of the earlier generation ones. I really hated the interior.

Am I alone in thinking bigger tires (on the stock wheels) would improve the overall aesthetic?

we had one in at work, nice enough truck. it ain’t a world-beater but it will give Nissan some credibility in the full-size truck segment. Though for being “three-fourths size” of an HD pickup, why is it only a few pounds lighter than an equivalent F-250 Powerstroke?

I enjoy the soft clattering of the diesel followed by the turbo whistle.

I honestly think truck diesels have become too quiet. I mean, I don’t think they have to make as much racket as a 6.0 Powerstroke, but at least they should sound like they’re saying “hey, I’m workin’ under here!”

I get what you mean, but I can appreciate all of the efforts engineers have gone through to create trucks that make more power with less noise.

One of my neighbors has an early 2nd gen Ram with the old 12 valve. It’s a basic work truck loadout with long bed, 5 speed, Xcab, and dog dish wheels. I personally love it but I can hear it every time the guy gets home. And the guy lives on the other side of my oval shaped neighborhood.

The XD Cummins is silent by comparison. But I work in an office so it would just be a toy hauler for a schmuck like me.

honestly I think the quietness has come along as part of cleaning them up. spreading out the injection into multiple, different length pulses promotes both cleaner running and less noise.
